Rejuvenating Our Church Community - Readying Ourselves for Outreach

Purpose of the Plan

This document summarizes the conference’s discussions and its ideas for change. This Plan for the church was intended to not only continue the vision of the original settlers and missionaries in Belize but the work and dedication of the many leaders that will came after. Most of all, it serves the Lord’s purpose to further His Kingdom.

In summary, the purpose of the Plan is to:

  • better understand who we are as community of believers;

  • understand our relevance and importance in local communities and across Belize;

  • re-examine the mission and vision;

  • examine our strengths, weaknesses and the threats we face;

  • effectively manage the most challenging issues;

  • build on opportunities;

  • articulate where we want to be as a Church over the next five years

  • inform us of the actions local churches, leaders and the Presbytery will take to make the new mission and vision a reality;

  • recommend ideas on how to better include congregants and the surrounding communities in building and growing the church; and,

provide us with an accountability framework whereby we can monitor progress – what does success look like?

  • comprender mejor quiénes somos como comunidad de creyentes;

  • comprender nuestra relevancia e importancia en las comunidades locales y en todo Belice;

  • reexaminar la misión y la visión;

  • examinar nuestras fortalezas, debilidades y las amenazas que enfrentamos;

  • gestionar eficazmente los problemas más desafiantes;

  • aprovechar las oportunidades;

  • expresar dónde queremos estar como Iglesia durante los próximos cinco años.

  • informarnos de las acciones que las iglesias locales, los líderes y el presbiterio tomarán para hacer realidad la nueva misión y visión;

January 26 2023, a group of church leaders met at Cornerstone Presbyterian High School led by Peter and Bill to do an evaluation of the National Church Strategic Plan. The evaluation showed that some strategies are being  implemented ,yet there are some strategies that are still a challenge for some churches or even Presbytery. It was observed that more commitment and embracing of the Strategic plan is needed. ".
January 7, at PCSB training center conference room , 19 church members from different churches gathered to discuss a short evaluation on the five year strategic plan with the goal to establish clear steps to continue implementing the strategic plan.
This evaluation was led by Peter and Bill from Edudeo ministries.

Another point of discussion were the principles of:

    i. change principles (stages of - denial… confusion… problem solving)

    ii. principle of ‘adaptation for survival, for change that leads to growth.

Action to be taken:

  1. Each church through prayer selects an ambassador to lead the strategic plan at local level. (preferably not a church leader)

  2. Each church ambassador becomes part of a national committee to support the implementation of the national strategic plan.

  3. Names of local church ambassadors are submitted at agreed time to the national executive by end of January 2024.

  4. It was recommended:

  1. Each church considers certain character traits when selecting ambassador.

  2. Each local church forms a local team to support locally their ambassador.

  3. A term of reference will be developed for the ‘National ambassadors committee’.

  4. Church members be greatly motivated and encouraged to visit the National Church website and to READ the National Church Strategic Plan

The session concluded with a prayer by Pastor Leogardo Catzim.
